EU Chemicals and Textiles Industries to Be Subject to New Environmental Regulations
Under the EU Industrial Emissions Directive, some 3,000 chemical and 300 textile industry plants in the EU will have to adhere to new regulations to reduce their environmental footprint.
Existing installations will be given a time period of four years to adapt, whereas new plants will be required to comply immediately.
The new regulations agreed upon by the European Commission are centered around the management and treatment of waste gas in the chemical sector and encompass a series of activities in the textile industry.
They are geared towards achieving the Zero Pollution goal, which is one of the Green Deal’s headline actions, among a string of other initiatives aiming to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent.
