New bio-cleaning system, Toucan Eco Auto, launched by Robert Scott
A new addition has been made to the Toucan Eco range, by Robert Scott, which is a bio-cleaning system known as the Toucan Eco Auto. This system has been designed to make cleaning more sustainable, more environmentally friendly and to help operators of medium to large facilities reduce their chemical dependency and usage, as well as their environmental footprint.
The innovative system is an automated disinfectant generator which works through producing twenty litres of multipurpose disinfectant cleaner, within thirty minutes. The system is designed to be better for the environment and to reduce the need for harmful chemicals in cleaning products, which is why the system creates the disinfectant cleaner out of only salt and water. Furthermore, the system has also been effectively designed to dispense the solution directly into containers, which enables comprehensive surface cleaning. The system is also fully automated and the only attention it requires, is to be refilled with salts when it’s LED display indicates that the machine needs it.
Taking a closer at the British-made system, it can be seen that the technology uses a specialised electrolysis cell to activate a mixture of salt and water. It does this through using a small electrical current and this current produces a powerful combination of hypochlorous acid, which is an effective disinfectant, along with sodium hypochlorite, which is a cleaning agent. The result of the reaction is a potent but naturally occurring disinfectant cleaner. It has been proven that this particular cleaner is non-toxic, hypoallergenic, environmentally friendly and is also effective against a wide array of germs. The disinfectant also has an efficacy rate of an estimated 99.999%.
This newly designed, innovative system brings multiple benefits to the cleaning industry, including providing consumers with a more efficient but cheaper method of cleaning. Plus, it helps companies to reduce their carbon footprint, as it provides an alternative to 80% of conventional and commonly used chemical products, meaning the need to use these chemicals is eliminated. Another benefit is that this new design prevents the need for single-use plastic bottles or packaging and due to the lack of need for these products, the emissions that are generated during manufacturing and transportation processes are consequently significantly reduced.
During the development of this product, an independent carbon footprint audit was done and the results portrayed that the process of producing one litre of ready-to-use solution with this system, only generates the equivalent of 3.07g of Co2. This is a significant reduction, as it indicates that five litres of activated solution being created, will produce the same amount of carbon emissions as boiling a kettle once. An excellent and important improvement, when it comes to the drive towards reducing carbon emissions in industries.
Apart from the benefits to the environment and aim to decarbonise industries, the design of this equipment is also well-thought-out and beneficial to industries. Even though the system is capable of a large output capacity, the Toucan Eco Auto has a compact design. It measures 48x25x65 cm and weighs 25kg, so it is the perfect size for industrial use. Moreover, the product has already been certified to EN 14476, EN 16777, EN 1276, and EN 13697 standards and has also been registered as a UK biocide. It’s pH level remains around 7.8 to 8.5, making it effective, but not making it a chemical that requires protective clothing or PPE when in use.
Product lead for Toucan Eco at Robert Scott, Steve Courtney, commented, "The Toucan Eco range is at the forefront of sustainable commercial cleaning innovation. With the introduction of Toucan Eco Auto, we're catering to the demands of busier environments where quick, effective, and environmentally conscious cleaning solutions are paramount. This addition to the range highlights our commitment to providing versatile and sustainable cleaning solutions across various sectors."
