Quebec’s new electric vehicle manufacturing facility will produce world’s cleanest batteries

Quebec’s new electric vehicle manufacturing facility will produce world’s cleanest batteries

The Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau and the Premier of Quebec, Francois Legault, have welcomed a new electric vehicle manufacturing facility, which will be built by Northvolt Batteries North America, in Saint-Basille-le-Grand and McMasterville, Quebec.

This new project is viewed as important and necessary by many investors and companies around the world, as the electric vehicle supply chain will be an integral addition to many companies, from industries focused on mining to processing critical minerals.

The new facility will be powered by clean electricity, so the batteries produced at the facility will come from an incredibly green manufacturing process and will be some of the cleanest and greenest batteries in the world. The incentives to build this facility include factors such as the batteries being clen and produced from a green manufacturing process, as well as research showing that the plant will generate economic benefits as great as the incentives within 5 to 9 years of the facility being built. This highlights that the project indicates an immense amount of promise and will be the necessary addition the industry is looking for to press towards a greener economy, through the use of another greener manufacturing system and green products.

The new facility will have a size equivalent to 318 football fields and will have an annual electric vehicle battery manufacturing capacity of 60 GWh. This amount of power will have the ability to power an estimated one million electric vehicles every year. Within the first phase of this facility being built, there will also be facilities for cathode active material production and battery recycling built adjacent to the project. These additions will make this new facility unique, as it will be the only fully integrated electric vehicle battery facility of its kind in Canada. This shows the multiple benefits this facility will provide, especially through its greener manufacturing process and its green products, that will benefit consumers and the environment immensely.
